Company History

The story began in 1968 when Bill Wallis purchased a small gasoline distributor in Cuba, Missouri.

Bill’s vision for the company was to be “A Premier Petroleum Company Delivering Exceptional Customer Service”, and the 1400 people at Wallis Companies work hard each day to continue to keep this promise alive.

Over the 50 plus year history, the Company has grown from the one store that Bill purchased at the beginning to a multi- state organization through investments in new sites, organic growth and major acquisitions.

Wallis’ portfolio of businesses includes a retail chain of On the Run convenience stores and Transport, Lubricant, Wholesale, Commercial Fuels, and Car Wash Divisions.

In 2001, Bill Wallis died from melanoma, and with a strong team of dedicated and professional people, the company has continued to grow, strengthen and serve our customers with the same focus on relationships, quality products and service to our customers.

Delivering on our Vision, Mission and Values is paramount in all that we do and drives our team to be the best in our industry.

Wallis Companies is a great place with great people. We are an adaptable, high-spirited company that is well respected within our industry and communities, as well as by our suppliers, customers, and competitors. Bill Wallis Charitable Foundation

The Bill Wallis Charitable Foundation was created on March 15, 2001 when our Company’s Founder, Bill Wallis, died of melanoma. The initial funds for the foundation were generated from donations from over 400 employees, business associates, family and friends upon Bill’s death. On-going funds are generated from many of those same individuals as well as many more who contribute to and participate in the Bill Wallis Annual Golf Tournament, as well as contributions given in honor, in celebration or in memory of someone. The funds are used to award scholarships to Wallis Companies’ employees, their children, Wallis Companies’ dealers or their children or a Wallis Companies vendor.

Scholarship applications are due by March 15th each year.  Click here for the scholarship application.  For more information about the Foundation or the scholarship, please visit the website or contact Kristen Byfield at (636) 549-1601.
