Commitment to Community
At Wallis Companies, we believe community involvement extends beyond the walls of our stores. Whether it’s helping with fund raising efforts or volunteering time or taking an active role in programs that make our neighborhoods better places to live, Wallis Companies and our associates are committed to helping our neighbors and giving back to the community.
Boys & Girls Town of Missouri: Putting Kids First
Wallis companies is an active partner and supporter of Boys and Girls Town of Missouri. The philosophy, Kids First, underscores their commitment to helping children discover the best in themselves. Using a strength-based approach, Boys and Girls Town helps children focus on positive behaviors that can lead to improved self-esteem and ultimately, positive relationships with their peers and adults.
This is accomplished through a wide-range of programs such as specialized therapy designed for children and families, innovative programs like equestrian therapy and School in the Wilderness, and their mentoring program for young women, Changing Prisms-A Voyage of Self-Discovery. Boys and Girls Town of Missouri help children and their families put their lives back together! Learn more at www.bgtm.org.
All Stars for Autism
Every April during Autism Awareness month, Wallis Companies proudly joins the All-Stars for Autism campaign to benefit TouchPoint Autism Services. This is an opportunity for Wallis Companies to support children and families living with autism.
1 in every 100 children will be diagnosed with autism. The statistics are staggering. The funds we raise during this campaign help support the mission and programs of TouchPoint and expand the circle of support for individuals with autism. Learn more by visiting www.touchpointautism.org.
Relay for Life
Wallis Companies has partnered with the American Cancer Society — Relay for Life — in support for many years. Relay For LifeŽ is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money to help the American Cancer Society save lives, help those who have been touched by cancer, and empower individuals to fight back against this disease. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team keeps at least one team member on the track at all times.
Relay is much more than a walk around a track. It is a time to remember those lost to cancer and celebrate those who have survived. It is a night for people who have shared the same experience to comfort and console one another. Read more at www.relayforlife.org.
Educational Alliance
The Educational Alliance Program is an opportunity for Mobil branded retailers to support their neighborhood schools thru the donation of $500 grants. Educational Alliance grants can be used for a broad range of programs based on the needs of the individual school. Grants may be designated for special projects that stretch beyond academics such as projectors, recreation equipment, chemistry labs, athletic programs and to enhance programs such as Accelerated Math, Family Days, and tutoring programs. For the sixth year, Wallis Companies has been honored to provide the grants to local schools in our communities.
Good Neighbors
Wallis Companies partners with local schools, civic and church organizations, fire departments, law enforcement organizations and clubs in our community through donations and fund raising.
